Iceland

Fierce water-falls meet unparalleled hot springs, whilst volcanic lava interchanges with fascinating frost. An isolated island-country of the European north, a place where nature appears miraculous.

Most visitors choose to organize a road trip through the so-called Golden Circle (Gullni hringurinn), a popular tourist route in southern Iceland that covers around 300 kilometers, starting from Reykjavík and ending in the southern highlands of the country. The Golden Circle features three main attractions that you shouldn’t miss. Along the way, you’ll experience a landscape of barren plains, wilderness, volcanic gorges, and mountains.   First is Thingvellir National Park, a region filled with narrow gorges, basalt formations, rivers, streams, small waterfalls, wide valleys and plains, and lakes. It is also the main rift between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates, making it significant not only geologically but also culturally.   Next is the geothermal area of Haukadalur, a site full of world-famous geysers, hot springs, and other volcanic phenomena. One of them is Geysir, the first geyser ever recorded and the namesake of the natural phenomenon. Nearby is Strokkur, one of Iceland’s most active geysers, erupting frequently.   Finally, the Gullfoss waterfall, one of the largest and most powerful in Iceland, featuring two cascades that plunge into a 32-meter-deep canyon. Due to the sediment in the water, the falls often take on a golden hue when the sun is shining.

Indicative price for a 10-day travel package from €3800/person in a double room, including airfare with Austrian & Lufthansa to Reykjavík (via an intermediate stop), airport taxes and transfers, 9 nights in Iceland in 4-star accommodations with daily breakfast, as well as excursions and program activities.
